Saadani National Park · Tanzania
Where the safari reaches the sea
The only national park in East Africa with an Indian Ocean shoreline. Elephants at dawn, a sandbank to yourself by lunch. One hundred kilometres north of Dar es Salaam, facing Zanzibar.
Bush and beach, same day
Saadani is the only Tanzanian park where you can track elephants in the morning and snorkel a coral sandbank in the afternoon. Nowhere else makes you choose less.
Full board, always
Every rate includes all meals. No decisions about dinner, no bill at the end of the evening — just the ocean and whatever the kitchen has found that day.
Book direct, pay direct
Reserve on this site and your money goes to the camp, not to a commission. Same tent, same rate, and a person who answers you by name.
Accommodation
Five tents, all facing the water
Canvas, hot water, a private veranda and 24-hour solar power. Rates below are live from our reservation system.
Experiences
What a day here looks like

Game drive
Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, a dozen antelope species and, if the morning is generous, lion. Open vehicle, guide from the village.

Wami River boat safari
Hippo, crocodile and kingfishers, upriver at the hour when the light goes copper. The quietest thing we do.

Sandbank & snorkelling
Five kilometres offshore, a bank of white sand appears at low tide. We bring lunch. You bring nothing.
Before you book
Park fees, stated plainly
Cterra sits inside a national park, and Tanzania National Parks charges a conservation fee per person for every 24 hours you are inside it. It is not part of your rate and we do not collect it.
We would rather you knew that now than at the gate. You will see the estimated amount on the very first screen of the booking, listed separately from your total.
Plus 18% VAT. Children are charged at a lower rate. Figures are indicative and set by Tanzania National Parks, not by Cterra. We will confirm the current tariff on your booking summary.
Getting here
Closer than you think
From Dar es Salaam
One hundred kilometres north. Road transfer, or a short flight to the airstrip. We can arrange either.
From Zanzibar
You can see the island from the beach. Fly in, or combine Saadani and Zanzibar into one trip.
The camp
Barefoot luxury, powered by the sun
Off-grid, by design
Solar power around the clock, low-impact construction, and a camp that leaves the coastline as it found it.
Full board, always
Every rate includes all meals — daily menus built around the village catch and our own garden.
Quiet on purpose
A small camp inside a national park, an hour from the nearest town, facing an empty stretch of the Indian Ocean.
