Private beach picnic and green turtle hatching

Lunch set up on an empty stretch of the five kilometres in front of the camp — the same beach where the green turtles nest.

You are driven or walked to the spot, it is already laid out when you get there, and then you are left alone with it.

This same stretch of coast is where green turtles come ashore. Their nesting season runs from June to October, and the eggs take between forty-five and sixty days to hatch — so if you are here at the right time, the beach you are eating on has more going on than it looks.

Worth knowing before you book

• The price is per couple, and it is for the picnic. Watching a hatching costs nothing.
• Turtle nesting is seasonal — June to October, with the eggs taking forty-five to sixty days — and never guaranteed. Nobody should promise you a hatching.
• A hatching is watched from a distance, at dusk, with the lights off and no flash. It is the only responsible way to see it.
• The nests near the camp are monitored and protected.
• It happens at the camp beach, so no park entry fee applies.
